The blank canvas of this duplex apartment was truly a spectacular one. As a designer, it is important to highlight the structural elements but also to make sure one's client's personality is displayed. Much of the apartment was painted a soft white and housed neutral colored furniture and artwork. My client wanted a relaxing corner of this expansive duplex so we endeavored to make a sanctuary of the master bedroom by adding soft lighting in the form of a chandelier and small bedside lamps. Silver was introduced as an accent color to add a level of sophistication to the room. To instill some visual interest and a smidge of boldness, the upstairs hallway just outside of the master bedroom was painted a pale lavender and the study was painted a rich chocolate brown in a glossy paint where a patriotic American flag art-piece made of wood beams and license plates was hung.
